Mushroom Update (Sad) )

15 Films in April )

Other Stuff
I'm hoping to put together a March and April event roundup soon, but I’ve hardly worked on anything recently. That will change once Voiceteam starts, but it’s interesting how my fannish energy seems to go up and down so much these days and is and usually wholly based on what events I’m participating in at the time.

Tomorrow I'm being interviewed as part of a research study on ASMR. I did an online survey a while ago and was invited to be interviewed based on my answers, so that's exciting. The study is looking at whether a Highly Sensitive Person (something I hadn't heard of before the survey, but is apparently a Thing and a thing that I might also be) is more likely to consume ASMR content and why, which is awesome. I can already foresee me talking their ear off now I get the chance to share my ASMR thoughts with someonne, especially with how it's changed since developing tinnitus, and I can't wait to read their findings once they're available!

I hope everyone is doing well 🧑🧑🧑

I updated the colour palette of my journal today and somehow managed to lose bullet points entirely in the process. They don’t show up on my reading page or main blog anymore, and I have no idea how that’s possible when I just changed the colours. Oops!

I’m not sure how to say this, so I’ll get right to it: I’ve changed my preferred pronouns. I am going by they/them at the moment. Uh, thanks!

Mushrooms Update and Pics )

I’m challenging myself to watch 15 films in April, so one every other day. So far I’ve watched Her (2013) and Thor: Love & Thunder (2022), and tonight it’s Gravity (2013). I also watched Conclave recently and was pleased it lived up to the hype. I put all the films I wanted to give a go in a pot and have been pulling them out at random. It’s been fun so far!

Happy Easter to my friends here if you celebrate. I hope March was good to everyone 🧑

December!

Dec. 1st, 2025 04:04 pm

Hello lovely people πŸ‘‹ It's December(!!), which means... the cute holiday events are here (●'β—‘'●) Here's a selection of some December events I enjoy, am looking forward to, or am taking part in!

First is the Holiday Love Meme, where you say anonymous nice things about people in fandom you appreciate. I love this event, as it gives me a place and an excuse to say the things I've often been holding onto for a while about people I admire, whose journals I read, or who I just see around and appreciate. It really is the most wholesome of wholesome events.

And is it really the holidays without...

I'm requesting Pokemon, Star Wars, and podfics of my fic ^^

Holiday Wishes

✨ My list just went live! ✨
This is a community where people post wishlists of 10 items or fewer that may or may not be fannish!
Anyone can gift someone something from their list up until the end of the year. It's a lovely, supportive group.

Other Events

It's now officially [community profile] rec_cember! (And it's not too late to take part.) I'll be posting a rec post here on my journal every Saturday this month, covering fic, art, and podfic. I'm so excited to share what I've been busy collecting and hope to see lots of recs for fandoms I know as part of the event ^^

It's currently Nandermo Week 2025 (What We Do in the Shadows) on Tumblr, and I've been posting a podfic for each prompt. The host is reblogging all the works created. There's been some really inventive art made so far (such as a single cell organism AU that made me laugh out loud) and it's so fun seeing everyone's take on the prompts.

Woohoo, all post-deadline pinch hits have been picked up for [community profile] ficinabox, and reveals have been delayed until my birthday, which feels like an extra special treat for me!

The lovely elany has created a song-inspired podfic event, [tumblr.com profile] mixtape-bingo, with song suggestions/prompts open all December. Bingo cards will be generated in January with podficcers having a year to get bingo!

There's a new community challenge bingo card for treats created for [community profile] swrarepairs. Treats can be submitted up until author reveals.

The deadline for [community profile] latetreatbonanza is 24 December, where you can post those late treats you might have started for exchange participants earlier in the year. You can see who's signed up (i.e., is open to late treats) here or check the event spreadsheet by fandom here.

That's all for now! Thank you for looking - I'm wishing you a lovely December. Under the cut is the best catch I could've used my Masterball on 😊

I completed my WWDITS Podtober challenge! I did it – I posted one What We Do in the Shadows (TV) podfic per day for the whole of October. I’m realising as I write this post that 31 is the same number of podfics I made for [community profile] battleship this year too. Neat! It was exhilarating, a little exhausting, and I still can’t believe I managed it. I’m proud of myself ^^

✨ The headline stats are: 88,260 words podficced, totalling 11 hours, 24 minutes of podfic! ✨

Under the cut are more detailed stats and ramblings about the project 😊

Stats, stats, stats! )

Thanks for reading this if you did! Now I'm off to make my outstanding icons for [community profile] ficortreat and enjoy the gifts I received. (I’ll be sure to post an event roundup for that soon too!) Also must give the kittens some of the attention they demand. They have names now! Eddie Baby and Frank. If you get the reference, I love you. Bye for now!

This past week, I've challenged myself to post a What We Do in the Shadows (TV) podfic every day, and I've succeeded! I hope to continue with this for the rest of the month, and have another week and a half's worth of pods ready to go as of writing as I'm really enjoying myself. It's also coincided with [personal profile] pod_o_ween, which has been great for motivation too. Check out what's in this year's collection so far here.

It's been nice getting to interact with fics in my shiny new fandom this way. It's boosted my motivation to read more fic in general, and I've found some real gems. I've been pushing myself with cover art too. Also, a friend made me some Nandor collages (scanned, physical ones!) that I'll be using on covers next week that I absolutely adore and can't wait to share.

As part of this project, I also followed [personal profile] jocundasykes' guide on using Python to scrape AO3 author profiles. It was complicated and most of the time I didn't know what I was doing, but I ended up with 9 new WWDITS writers for the FPS List and 2 edge cases I plan to reach out to from the 1088 authors I scraped. It's such a satisfying feeling to find new writers open to podfic of their works ^^

Semi-relatedly, I recently started a challenge with [personal profile] wilfriede0815 to crosspost at least one podfic to tumblr per week, something I'd never been brave enough to do before. (I'm [tumblr.com profile] palmofviolet on there if you're interested.) Having this challenge coincide with mine has meant I've been crossposting all these WWDITS podfics there too, which has been nerve-wracking but nice :)

I plan to post a stats roundup here at the end of the month for how many WWDITS pods I managed and how many words/hours were podded. My new Python "skills" (word used so very, very loosely lol) meant I also scraped my Internet Archive account this week and found out I've podded 106 hours of podfic since I started in 2020. I'm not sure how I feel about that total (I thought it would be bigger) but I am pleased about my recent personal growth with podding and how that will affect my output going forward. I feel more confident to take on longer stories these days, editing doesn't take me as long or feel like a slog (I enjoy it almost as much as recording), and I've even started trying more distinct character voices. Who knows if they're any good, haha, but it's fun to experiment.

This post has been rambly!

I just realised I can make polls on here! :O

As my Magnemite master set (a collection of all the Magnemite Pokemon TCG cards) nears completion, I've been thinking about how to share it. I have a lot to say—such as talking about my favourite illustrations, where I found particular cards, facts about them, etc.—and I'm unsure how best to compile all those thoughts. I'm considering either a long post with lots of pics/scans or a video where I flip through my binder and talk about the cards out loud. Which of these sounds more interesting to you?

A simple post today! Pics (and gifs) of five things from my Magnemite collection that I love ^^

1. Re-Ment Pokemon Terrarium Collection

I still can't believe I own this! I got extremely lucky with my eBay alerts and bought this thirty seconds after the listing went live, hah. I don't think the seller knew (or maybe they didn't care?) how rare this one is because it was a steal. I love my happy little babies playing with electricity ^^

The rest are under here... )

1. PokeClicker
I've been playing PokeClicker for over a month now. Does anyone else play? It's so fun and I love the almost never ending supply of achievements. Although, making this post made me realise that I accidentally lost my entire save last night thanks to me clearing my browser cache, whoops, so I suppose this post serves as an RIP to my progress! Here's my trainer card for my now lost playthrough. *salutes*

2. Pokemon Go Postcard Collection
Under the cut is my current collection of Pokemon Go postcards that I feel have a particularly good combo of Pokestop and sticker.

Reveal the Postcards! )

3. Cute Pokemon Drabble
My prompt on [community profile] drabbleonficathon ("Pokemon (all media types), Any Pokemon, collecting") got an absolutely wonderful fill by [personal profile] scytale! You can find it here. It's so inventive and cute. The event is ongoing until October 1st, so do go make prompts or enjoy the fills ^^

Bonus: PokePod Podficcer Signups
I lied, here's Pokemon thing number four 😲 There are about twelve hours left to sign up to [community profile] pokepodproject as a podficcer. I'm so excited by the turnout already (32 podficcers so far!) and how many written works have already gone into the collection before that final deadline rush. I've loved seeing people get excited in their author's notes about the Pokemon they were assigned. This is such a fun event to run and even though there's a lot of work ahead with pinch hits and anthology organisation, I'm looking forward to it.
