Hello!
Thank you for your interest in my
unconventionalfanworkex letter. I'm so excited to take part in this exchange again and see what interesting unconventional fanworks it produces this year (and what unconventional fanwork will be made for me!) For any of the prompts/ideas in this letter, feel free to ignore them, pull out parts that interest you, change elements, or draw inspiration from the general idea. I’ll be excited about whatever you choose to make for me :-)
You can find me on AO3 at
peasina. My fanfic is posted at
flowerdeluce.

Two films set twenty years apart (1996 and 2016) centred upon alien invasions of Earth. Brackish and Milton are scientists who work at Area 51. They have minor roles in the first film (note: watch the extended version of the first film or most of their scenes are cut out, boo) and slightly larger roles in the second, where they’re also revealed to be a couple. Brackish is the total Mad Scientist™ type who’s enthusiastic about everything, while Milton is the calm dude who tries and fails to rein him in. (4 hours, 40 minutes total)
Happy, soppy fluff is my go-to for this pairing, but please go where your heart takes you! I like it when things get serious too, when there's angst and sadness, drama with the aliens, and all that good stuff :-D
I love the idea of the notices being a noticeboard somewhere in a common area of Area 51. What might get put up there? For therapist's notes, I'd prefer Brackish to be the one seeing a therapist. He'd probably need one after his alien attack, and Maybe Milton encourages him to see someone. Does Brackish discuss his relationship with Milton with his therapist or does he keep schtumn but drop accidental hints? Correspondence via Post-It Notes sounds adorable. I can totally imagine Milton hanging on to every Post-It Brackish has ever written him. D’aww.
I’d appreciate any AU scenario where Brackish’s coma lasts 73 days instead of 7,300, or two years instead of twenty, or two weeks… or however long you want that dramatically reduces the time they’re apart. Keeping it canon or ignoring it completely also fine! I’d prefer Milton to live at the end of Resurgence, too. Basically, ignore canon timelines all you want.
For podfic, I wouldn’t want to be gifted anything sexually explicit as I don’t enjoy listening to explicit pods as much. Podfic of my fic (at flowerdeluce) would be lovely if you fancy it. A podfic of a new story would also be delightful. If you can find an existing Brackish/Milton story to pod for me, the lone podficcer in this fandom (me!) will adore it.
Here’s a list of my non-explicit works that haven’t been podficced that I’d love to hear your take on (though re-podding is more than welcome, too!): Breather [Gen] 1,500 words, A la carte [Gen] 3,067 words, Emergency, I love you [Gen] 3,388 words

A silly 90s sports parody film by David Zucker about the fictional sport of BASEketball. The film is set in an alternate universe where competitive sports became so commercialised nobody watches them anymore. Coop and Remer (best bros since childhood) invent BASEketball, and it’s a massive success. Trials arise for both them and their team, putting their relationship on the line. (1 hour 48 minutes)
Most of this section is stolen from my
ficinabox 2020 letter, a similar exchange that allows for unusual mediums. The BASEketball section of that letter is here. I'm super excited by the prospect of getting art in an exchange, especially art in card format, which is a favourite style of mine. I'm also aware that with these requested styles, it could be hard to make it shippy. Don't worry! As long as Coop and Remer are there, I'll love it. Chosing '/' instead of '&' is to show that (1) I ship them and (2) if you're writing something for a podfic or selecting a story, romance would make me happy. And speaking of podfic, one of a new story or an existing one would be so awesome, thank you!
My standard tarot card disclaimer is that I know nothing about tarot cards besides thinking they’re pretty. That’s why I’d love you to tell me about the symbolism of your piece if you feel comfortable, and there’s no such thing as too much information! I’ll be *chin hands* about everything you want to tell me about your card(s). Traditional/Western tarot style cards preferred. My favourite is the Rider-Waite deck, and I like the Marseilles deck’s aesthetic too. I don’t have any particular card in mind for Coop and Remer.
I love the picture cards in playing card decks, especially when they’re asymmetrical (like, one character one way up and another character the other, or one side of a character’s personality on each side, even different outfits.) I think a Joker card would also really work for either of these two. Or both! There’re two jokers in decks, right? Their player numbers could be a cool element (Coop is 44, Remer is 17.) I’d also love to see a playing card back design.
I would also love a Pokemon TCG style card for the Trading Card opt-in (trainers and stadium cards included!), though I'm only really interested in the original 150 pokemon. Ignore my crossover DNW if you run with this. Which pokemon would Coop and Remer have? What would their moves be (and would Psyche-Outs be involved in this fusion universe?) What about trainer cards and items, coins, decks, that are BASEketball/Pokemon themed? I’m also thinking… baseball card style? Like, how cool would that be!

17776 is a multimedia serial that is free to enjoy here. It is set in a distant future where humans have stopped dying and have eternity to play with. Many of these immortal humans choose to play wildly creative games of American football to pass the time. Three of Earth's satellites (who have now developed sentience) watch these players and give interesting commentary on not only the games but humanity itself.
The Monty Python sketch in question (known as "The Olympic Hide-and-Seek Final") stands alone and is not related to any other sketches in the series. It appears in series 3 episode 9 (titled "The Nude Organist") and is about six minutes long. It follows two hide-and-seek Olympians (from Britain and Paraguay) competing for the World Hide-and-Seek gold medal. They can hide at any location on Earth, and the final takes 22 years in total.
So… what if 17776, but they play hide-and-seek instead of football? (Or hide-and-seek is Europe’s most popular time-consuming sport while America does its thing!)
The Olympic Hide-and-Seek Final sketch fits perfectly into the 17776 universe and I can’t stop thinking about it! The presenter/commentator never ages. They have the whole world to hide in. Sure, one of the players grows a long beard and spiderwebs accumulate on one of the broadcasters, but this game’s gone on for 22+ years and neither Olympian ages a day. The world record is 11 years, meaning longer games previously! (Might they end up Eddie Krieger-level long, with tens of thousands of years spent in hiding?)
Wouldn’t hide-and-seek be something you’d want to try with all eternity to play with and the whole of Earth as playground? How much fun would the satellites have watching those games play out! Can they easily see where people are hiding using handwavey technology or are they hunting too then needing to keep the secret? Which historic games are their favourites? Is it always between two people or has the game distorted over time like Football? What do the players do while they’re hiding? Do people still gather to watch the seeker counting, like they do in Trafalgar Square? Do the players study their opponents to get an idea of where they’re likely to hide? Do the nanos allow for difficult hiding spots, like snowy mountainsides or the bottom of the sea? I want to know everything!
I’d love something in the style of the 17776 chats between satellites and however that works for you works for me. (Text Messages and Dialogue Only were the freeforms I thought were closest to their style of communication, but go with your heart.) Their observations of humanity give me life. What do they think of Huron and Roberts, if they’re still going? How has the game changed over the centuries? What’s been the weirdest hiding place? Tell me about other players too! I’d also love any additional media you’d like to add. Articles, images, scans about games, video and audio elements if you want to go that way. And of course, podfics are always welcome!
