peasina: (❝ pokemon - stunfisk - "dude" ❞)
This past week, I've challenged myself to post a What We Do in the Shadows (TV) podfic every day, and I've succeeded! I hope to continue with this for the rest of the month, and have another week and a half's worth of pods ready to go as of writing as I'm really enjoying myself. It's also coincided with [personal profile] pod_o_ween, which has been great for motivation too. Check out what's in this year's collection so far here.

It's been nice getting to interact with fics in my shiny new fandom this way. It's boosted my motivation to read more fic in general, and I've found some real gems. I've been pushing myself with cover art too. Also, a friend made me some Nandor collages (scanned, physical ones!) that I'll be using on covers next week that I absolutely adore and can't wait to share.

As part of this project, I also followed [personal profile] jocundasykes' guide on using Python to scrape AO3 author profiles. It was complicated and most of the time I didn't know what I was doing, but I ended up with 9 new WWDITS writers for the FPS List and 2 edge cases I plan to reach out to from the 1088 authors I scraped. It's such a satisfying feeling to find new writers open to podfic of their works ^^

Semi-relatedly, I recently started a challenge with [personal profile] wilfriede0815 to crosspost at least one podfic to tumblr per week, something I'd never been brave enough to do before. (I'm [tumblr.com profile] palmofviolet on there if you're interested.) Having this challenge coincide with mine has meant I've been crossposting all these WWDITS podfics there too, which has been nerve-wracking but nice :)

I plan to post a stats roundup here at the end of the month for how many WWDITS pods I managed and how many words/hours were podded. My new Python "skills" (word used so very, very loosely lol) meant I also scraped my Internet Archive account this week and found out I've podded 106 hours of podfic since I started in 2020. I'm not sure how I feel about that total (I thought it would be bigger) but I am pleased about my recent personal growth with podding and how that will affect my output going forward. I feel more confident to take on longer stories these days, editing doesn't take me as long or feel like a slog (I enjoy it almost as much as recording), and I've even started trying more distinct character voices. Who knows if they're any good, haha, but it's fun to experiment.

This post has been rambly!

Light is on for:
Fic or Treat Community (who have their own “Doors”) and my DW subscribers

What's in the Bowl? Pokémon Icons!

Let Me Know: The Pokémon you’d like icons for. You can name any number of Pokémon, a Pokémon type (e.g. steel type), generation, or say “Surprise me!” for a random Pokémon of my choice. I will make you at least three icons of at least one of your listed Pokémon.

Other info: I will use official art, concept art, TCG art, and sprites for your icons.

Thank you for knocking!

Today, while scrolling my Reading Page, I was greeted by purple boxes containing a message from imgur: "This content not viewable in your region." It's because of stupid new laws in the UK that have also stopped me from looking at fanart on AO3 and many other websites (🙄), and yeah I'm annoyed, but I thought I'd try to channel my annoyance into something helpful!

If you include images in your DW posts, such as icon batches or community banners, are you aware of DW's inbuilt image hosting? I feel like a lot of people are, so ignore this post if that's you, but if you're not... I'd already written the below guide for someone who reached out to me a few years ago asking for help, so I've tweaked it a little and hope it's helpful to anyone who might stumble across it.

Please note: DW-hosted images only display on DW.

I just realised I can make polls on here! :O

As my Magnemite master set (a collection of all the Magnemite Pokemon TCG cards) nears completion, I've been thinking about how to share it. I have a lot to say—such as talking about my favourite illustrations, where I found particular cards, facts about them, etc.—and I'm unsure how best to compile all those thoughts. I'm considering either a long post with lots of pics/scans or a video where I flip through my binder and talk about the cards out loud. Which of these sounds more interesting to you?

A simple post today! Pics (and gifs) of five things from my Magnemite collection that I love ^^

1. Re-Ment Pokemon Terrarium Collection

I still can't believe I own this! I got extremely lucky with my eBay alerts and bought this thirty seconds after the listing went live, hah. I don't think the seller knew (or maybe they didn't care?) how rare this one is because it was a steal. I love my happy little babies playing with electricity ^^

1. PokeClicker
I've been playing PokeClicker for over a month now. Does anyone else play? It's so fun and I love the almost never ending supply of achievements. Although, making this post made me realise that I accidentally lost my entire save last night thanks to me clearing my browser cache, whoops, so I suppose this post serves as an RIP to my progress! Here's my trainer card for my now lost playthrough. *salutes*

2. Pokemon Go Postcard Collection
Under the cut is my current collection of Pokemon Go postcards that I feel have a particularly good combo of Pokestop and sticker.

3. Cute Pokemon Drabble
My prompt on [community profile] drabbleonficathon ("Pokemon (all media types), Any Pokemon, collecting") got an absolutely wonderful fill by [personal profile] scytale! You can find it here. It's so inventive and cute. The event is ongoing until October 1st, so do go make prompts or enjoy the fills ^^

Bonus: PokePod Podficcer Signups
I lied, here's Pokemon thing number four 😲 There are about twelve hours left to sign up to [community profile] pokepodproject as a podficcer. I'm so excited by the turnout already (32 podficcers so far!) and how many written works have already gone into the collection before that final deadline rush. I've loved seeing people get excited in their author's notes about the Pokemon they were assigned. This is such a fun event to run and even though there's a lot of work ahead with pinch hits and anthology organisation, I'm looking forward to it.

Dear [community profile] ficinabox creator,

Thank you for visiting my letter. I can’t wait to open my box and see what’s inside! :-D

You can find me on AO3 as [archiveofourown.org profile] peasina. I welcome canon-blind art and podfic!

DNWs: chibi art (of the huge eyes/heads tiny bodies variety), trans headcanons, poetry, first or second person POV, focus on amputation, Pokémon coming to serious harm or dying, crossovers, genderswaps, mundane AUs (e.g., coffee shop), setting change AUs, soulmate AUs, fic over 15k in length (not applicable to podfic), more than two fingers in fingering

Journaling: The romance of summer! What do you love?

I thought I'd take this one literally by making a tier list of my endings with all 100 dateable characters from Date Everything!

Last year, I offered Pokemon-inspired wax melts as part of the [community profile] fandomtrumpshate Craft Bizarre. Here's my post about it. Fashionably late as usual! Under the cut are some pics of the melts I made for my three winners plus some other fannish wax melts I've made recently inspired by What We Do in the Shadows and the Date Everything! video game.

🐕 Canine Crunch - Rockruff - Citrus 🐕

If the scents don't seem to match, that's because that's what my winner was into (and also... what would Rockruff smell like? Probably not that great, haha.) I was really proud of how the marbling came out on this one! The glitter mix I used was called Sandstorm, which I thought was cool (as it's a Pokemon move).
