Always Ever Just Like This, Our Flag Means Death, Izzy Hands/Lucius Spriggs
I wasn't actually following anyone on AO3 until I saw this square. I love anomieow's Terror fic and was delighted to discover they'd written for OFMD too, so them being my first subscription felt very right :-)
A fic that's under 1k
miracle cure, Our Flag Means Death, Edward/Stede
This was a rec from
theseatheseatheopensea and I adore it! A beautiful ficlet full of in-character whimsy and charm. I recognised the author after I'd commented too. They have an Ideal Home fic that's been on my Marked for Later list for two years... Perhaps now I'll finally read it!

building our kingdom, Ideal Home (2018), Paul/Erasmus
Aaaaand, I did! (See above fic description.) This is such a teeny tiny fandom and this story is a jewel!
A canon divergent work
my name, pronounced by your lips, The Terror (2018), Goodsir/McDonald
A scenario I think about a lot (Goodsir saving McDonald following the events of carnivale.) This relatively short fic covers a lot of ground in this What If? scenario. What if McDonald survived? What if Stanely did too? Wonderful.
A work for a challenge from 2018
Sensory, The Terror (2018), Francis & Silna
Gorgeous work that in a thousand or so words makes Silna feel more real than even the book managed.
A work with multiple chapters
The Frolic Architecture of the Snow, The Terror (2018), Goodsir/Collins
I thought I was going to have trouble finding a chaptered work and all I had to do was look in my Marked For Later!
A fic that's over 5k
Fancy, Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Stede
Utterly gorgeous clothing porn. Ed in a bodice! Their first time! Bonus artwork! What more could you want?
A work from a challenge from 2020
Skin, The Terror (TV), Silna & Tuunbaq
A lovely drabble about an unexpectedly warm embrace.

The Rest Is Silence, The Terror (TV), Harry Goodsir
Another rec from
theseatheseatheopensea, and wow, I'll be rec'ing this one to as may people as I can now also. A wonderful study of survivor's guilt and trauma aftermath once Goodsir returns to Erebus following the creature's attack in episode 3.

nor add reproach to the wounds I bear, The Terror (TV), Goodsir & Bridgens
A wonderfully claustrophobic missing scene with Goodsir and Bridgens packing supplies for the first men to walk out.
A canon compliant work
Vigil, The Terror (TV), Thomas Blanky & Silna
A quiet moment during Blanky's watch when he sees Silna leaving Goodsir's tent after Morfin's death.
A fic between 1-5K
heartless, Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Stede
Ways Stede tries to convince Ed to take him back (or at least talk to him.) So cleverly put together with brilliant character voices and canon-typical humour!
A podfic
heartless, Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Stede
Yes, it's a podfic of the above fic! And it's by
greedy_dancer so yes, it's fabulous!

Abraham's Bosom, The North Water (TV), Drax/Sumner
A delicious helping of non-consensual somnophilia. *slurps it down*

Read to Me, Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Stede
I don't want to spoil the cute twist this fic has too much with a review here, but Ed is in need of some comfort and knows exactly the kind he wants. (It's being read 18th century erotica by his boyfriend.)

Soft & Weak & Gentle, Our Flag Means Death, Ed/Izzy
A gorgeous series of vignettes into Ed and Izzy's backstory, from Izzy's beginnings as Izzy the Spewer to his personality shifting for Ed's benefit, all the way to Ed meeting (and leaving Izzy for) a certain gentleman pirate. This inspired me to podfic it, and it really changed the way I feel about Izzy. A real gut punch of a fic.
A work from a challenge from 2022
Grinding Teeth, Our Flag Means Death, Izzy
From Summer Podfic Swap which revealed Aug' 22. Discovered this gem of an Izzy podfic with a really passionate delivery. Short, but not at all sweet. (In a good way!)
A work from a challenge from 2014
The Doctor's Fruit, Aubrey-Maturin Series - Patrick O'Brian, Jack/Stephen
An adorable mystery in the shape of a strange fruit. With help from Stephen, Jack works out what kind of fruit it is.
Line art
Return, Our Flag Means Death, Stede/Ed
A completely captivating comic of a missing scene. It's heartbreaking, which is amazing seeing as it has no dialogue - everything is conveyed through expression and symbolism. It's captivating. I'm so glad I found this gem.
A fic not on AO3
Breakfast, Star Trek: TNG, Beverly/Picard
A cute ficlet that uses Beverly and Picard's shared breakfasts as a setting for their first kiss!
A work posted in 2019
Breathe, The Terror (TV), Silna & Tuunbaq
A gorgeous minimalist piece showing a quiet moment shared between Silna & Tuunbaq. It'll make you feel cold just looking at it, but also peaceful.
A work posted in 2016
The Pirate Queen, Original Work, English Language (Anthropomorphic)
A clever 100-word poem about English, the pirate queen who rifles through your pockets for words tosteal ...borrow!
A work posted in 2013
The Thrill of the Hunt, Star Trek: TNG, Worf & Tasha
pauraque's Trek ficlets are always a delight and this one is no exception. Tasha and Worf are going for a run, and it's going to make you emotional.
A work posted in 2014
Calling Cards, Star Trek: TNG, Deanna & Pulaski
An emotional coda to 'The Child'. Deals with themes of loss and grief in a heartfelt and very Pulaski kind of way.
A work from a big bang
Carry these bones, Thor (Movies), Loki/Thor
I listened to the podfic of the work created for Thorki Baby Bang 2021. This story is dreamy, cosy, and mysterious, and it was a real treat listening to it.
Note: The mods said it was okay for me to swap out one square after I forgot to opt-out of prompts in my excitement to sign up. I changed "A WIP" to "A podfic".

And the characters are awesome, right? I think my favourite is Jim, but it's hard to choose, because they are all great! <3 Do you have any favourites? (Haha, I'm unashamedly always ready to talk about the queer pirates!)
