This podfic fulfills a square on my podfic_bingo card: Read With Silence.



First, this is my 50th podfic posted to AO3! :-D :-D :-D

Second, this was one of those stories I adored and asked to record a long time ago. I was worried about coming across as pushy when I found the author's tumblr and poked them about it, so I was so excited when they gave me permission! Thank you ImpishTubist! Now I'm only waiting to hear back from two authors, woot.

Third, I used a different microphone than my usual for this podfic. My flatmate owns a Blue Snowball (pretty favoured with podficcers according to the podficcing Discord) and he let me borrow it while he was away. Inspired by people sharing their podfic setup on said Discord, I also built myself a little booth for the mic with jigsaw boxes and pillows to help with ambient noises. It worked a little bit, but alas, London is noisy.

Fourth, or whatever number I'm up to now, this is also my first podfic with ambient background music all the way through! I like how it turned out. I think it really adds to the dreamy atmosphere the story has. I've also included a version without music for people who don't like that sort of thing.
