Euro Pod Friends 2020: "Get Rekt"
Oct. 18th, 2020 08:08 pmWell, my first time taking part in
europodfriends is over, and I had a smashing time! Their rec fest (affectionately known as Get Rekt) was my favourite activity. Having to come out of my usual lurker mode to say (via voicechat!) what kind of podfics I like was when I started to feel really comfortable. The EPF community is lovely. <3
I posted here a few days ago saying that I hoped to do at least one of three things this weekend:
(1) Make a podficcer friend,
(2) Help with at least one multivoice podfic, and
(3) Have the courage to ask for feedback on an idea I have for a podfic-related AO3 collection.
I did all three :-D
I've made a multivoice podfic once before, though it wasn't live and involved me poking fandom friends (none of them podficcers - not before I poked them anyway) asking if they'd like to send me clips to compile. The multivoice experience at EPF was very different and a lot more fun! I provided live voices for a Halloween-themed Transformers fic (robots and Halloween, what's not to love?) and a hilarious Mandalorian fic. I can't wait to hear the final results and will definitely share here.
The feedback on my AO3 collection was... amazing. Together, we fine-tuned the rules, devised a better name, and several people found some "what if...?" situations I hadn't thought of that were super useful. I'm pleased as punch to introduce...

If you've posted a podfic that is the first for its fandom on AO3, it's a pioneer podfic!
I am so excited to see this collection grow. The pool of podficcers at EPF already contributed almost 200 podfics, which is just amazing, and I think a lot of my future podfics will end up in there too.
In conclusion, I had a fab weekend, I'm sad EPF is over, and gosh I just love the podfic community!
PS: How fab is my Halloween podfic icon ;-)
