Hello!

Thank you for your interest in my unconventionalfanworkex letter. I'm excited to take part in this exchange and see what interesting unconventional fanworks it produces (and what unconventional fanwork will be made for me!) For any of the prompts/ideas in this letter, feel free to ignore them, pull out parts that interest you, change elements, or draw inspiration from the general idea. 

I enjoy fanworks of all ratings and archive warnings, and I desire my requested canons equally regardless of the length of each below section. I’m also happy for my fic (at flowerdeluce) to be podficced to fill any of my relevant podfic requests.

Fandom - Meta About A Popular Trope Or Piece Of Fanon

I'm a bit out of touch with this fandom as I'm really late discovering it. Meta to the rescue! 

I’d love to know where the name Connor came from for Elder McKinley. What’s the history of this fandom like? What should every fan know about this play? What are the most popular types of fanwork besides fic or what are the most popular fic tropes/genres and why might that be?

What changes have fans reported being made to the Spooky Mormon Hell Dream sequence? (I've heard of Kevin and Connor kissing, reaching for each other, even swapping Kevin as the recipient of McKinley's blow job!)

How have various cast members interacted with fandom in the past? I’d prefer not to receive a meta focused entirely on a particular actor because I’ve only seen the West End version (and both times a lovely swing played Kevin, so I don’t even know the main cast here that well!) 

Anything that delves into the play's text/lyrics would be fascinating. Go wild!

I threw these guys into the mix because they're my favourite comedians ever and literally anything related to them would make me so happy. I'm down for any of their characters from any of their shows to be the focus of my gift or the loose versions of themselves they play in things like Vic Reeves Big Night Out and House of Fools. If it's helpful, these are some of my favourite characters of theirs: Tom Fun and Derek, Graham Lister (and his rivalry with Vic), and Brian Dennis. I seriously love them all though.

Give me a board game version of Novelty Island! How are the winners chosen? What arbritary scoring system is in place? Is there another obscure sketch that would work well as a board game? Surprise me!

My experience with CYOA and IF is limited, so let's just say I'd enjoy anything you might want to make because it'll be a (mostly) new experience for me. If it's in the vein of their comedy (i.e. carefree nonsense), I'll love it.

Happy, soppy fluff is my go-to for this pairing. Milton’s interest in orchids and knitting is lovely – anything to do with his hobbies will make me happy. I love Brackish’s humour and how giddy he gets about aliens, space, and technology. 

I’m also into having my heart broken, so anything about Milton’s reaction to Brackish’s coma—immediately afterwards, during the long wait until he regains consciousness, decorating his room and visiting him while slowly losing hope, the difficulty of his recovery, etc.—would be appreciated, as would Brackish suffering from PTSD after his alien attack.

I love the idea of the notices freeform being a noticeboard somewhere in a common area of Area 51. It would be fun to know what might get put up there! For therapist's notes, I'd prefer it to be Brackish who's seeing a therapist. He'd probably need one after his alien attack. Maybe Milton pushes him to see someone. Does Brackish discuss his relationship with Milton with his therapist or does he keep schtumn but drop accidental hints? Correspondence via Post-It Notes sounds so adorable. I can totally imagine Milton hanging on to every Post-It Brackish has ever written him.

I’d appreciate any AU scenario where Brackish’s coma lasts 73 days instead of 7,300 (or two years instead of twenty, or two weeks… or however long you want that dramatically reduces the time they’re apart.) Or keep it canon or ignore it completely! I’d also prefer Milton to live at the end of Resurgence. Basically, ignore canon timelines all you want.

If you don’t know this canon but would like to, here’s what to watch and in which order: Sanctify; If You're Over Me; Palo Santo, short film.

I love the whole aesthetic of the Palo Santo album. It's gorgeous, and it already lends itself so well to tarot. I'd love to see Olly and/or the Showman as tarot cards. My knowledge of tarot is: "it's pretty", so please do tell me about the meaning of your card and how it relates to the character, invent a new one, or recreate a card style you enjoy. I'd love to hear your notes/thoughts.

They used six motifs in the universe they created for Palo Santo and these were used a lot on their tour: karma, android, new moon, the almighty oracle, the performer, and the showman. The confetti that fell on the crowd was in the form of fortunes with a tarot design on one side and a fortune on the other. Here's a pic of my tote bag showing the designs (please excuse the unrelated badges!) Maybe those six things could be an inspiration too?

I love the runic language used through the album. If any names/words on the card were written in that, that'd be awesome!

I've also gone with playing card design because I love the aesthetic of picture playing cards, especially when the character is mirrored and shown to be different in each half. Perhaps it could show the dark and light side of The Showman with two kinds of moons, two sides to Olly (perhaps collared and uncollared) or two sides of Palo Santo (is it a haven or a prison?)

Silent Zone - Stephen Molstad

This is the prequel novel to the Independence Day movies, and its my favourite book ever. If you like the movies, I'd highly recommend it if you fancy a fun alien mystery all about Dr Okun. Feel free to incorporate the movie canon into this request. 

The journal found at the opening of the novel on the alien craft was Brackish's, and I've always wanted to see inside it, especially his watercolour painting of the desert. What else does he sketch/paint in there? Aliens? Doodles? Milton? 

What about a journal/diary of Brackish's? Does he chronicle the events leading up to him and Milton getting together, or the arguments they had in the beginning before they caught feels? What about fragments he remembers following his encounter with the aliens in the desert?

I'd love Data’s personal log (“Diary Entry”) after the Brothers episode. There was so much for him to deal with and I'd love to hear how he processed it all through his unemotional filter.

There's also Datalore, which is another difficult thing he'd have been through. What did he think about Lore's ability to poison him with champagne, all the lies he told, and whether he might be capable of behaving similarly? Could Data feel anything from the Crystalline Entity?

Descent is another episode that brings them together (without Soong, though he's mentioned, and that's all I need.) I've always wondered what happened with Lore's body afterwards, how Data felt about having to deactivate his brother, and why that was allowed in the first place after they went to such lengths in Measure of a Man to ensure androids had rights. It may have been that Lore was too damaged to function properly, but what does Data think about the possibility of giving him another chance? (This could work as a mission report too.)

For podfic, I'd love any fluffy story set pre-canon on Omicron Theta when Data and Lore were baby androids learning how to human. Something angsty with some sibling rivalry would be great too, or something set during the episodes mentioned above. I love the Soong family so much, and I'll be excited to listen to any story about them! I'd also love something about Lore floating in space for those two years after he's ejected from the Enterprise. What does he see? What does he think about? How does that Pakled ship find him and what happens once he's taken aboard? 

I have one fic for this relationship configuration. Feel free to podfic it to fulfil this request if it takes your fancy.
