peasina | Sunshine Revival 2025

I'm going to be slightly delayed in posting for the

sunshine_revival challenges this July (because Battleship!) but I've been playing along at a distance throughout and hope to catch up on my entries as soon as I can. Here's my first!

Challenge #1 Creative Prompt
Shine a light on your own creativity. Create anything you want and share it with your community.

This challenge inspired me to finally put together a collage for the 'Hotel Reverie' episode of Black Mirror's latest series. I'd been collecting things for it since I first watched.

However, I'm not completely happy with how it turned out... I think it would have been much cooler in black and white, like the majority of the episode. So, as I'm not feeling entirely confident about it, I'm sharing some others I've made recently that I am happy with ^^

Under the cut are fandom collages for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Wars Original Trilogy, Reservoir Dogs, and I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, plus one non-fandom collage :)

Star Trek: TNG - Deanna Troi

Deanna, my wife, my everything. I didn't have enough things I was willing to cut up with her face on, so I ordered photo prints in the post XD I was delighted to find the colour palette in a makeup magazine with a colour named "cosy therapy" on it - perfect for her!

Reservoir Dogs - Freddy and Larry

This was part of a collage challenge with a friend. We take turns picking an element for us both to use a starting point. She chose the screenshot of Freddy and Larry in the car (it's hard to see, but it's bottom right, printed on my thermal printer.) It was perfect timing, as I'd just picked up some DVDs from a local record store who puts freebies on a table out front and grabbed Res Dogs. I cut Freddy, Larry, and the pic on the TV screen from the cover ❤️🖤

I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream - AM, AM, AM!

I read I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream recently to pick up a pinch hit (well, I say read - I listened to the audiobook read by the author that's available free on YouTube here and it left me delightfully disturbed and completely amazed by his reading skills) and it haunted me for weeks. I had to make this collage to work through my emotions about it! I feel like this is gross to look at, and I'm very pleased about that XD

Luke and Vader - To the Dark Side

Bad boys! 🖤 I've made several Vader collages in the past, but as I'd worked in smaller books previously, I could never fit that "Life on the Dark Side" text anywhere. Then I had a brainwave. Rotate! There are probably many more Luke and/or Vader collages in my future - I can't help picking up Star Wars books at boot fairs for 50p, so I have so much material!

Non-Fandom Freedom

A final non-fandom collage that escaped the confines of the book as the pieces I found were too big. This was made for a friend who challenged me to make a collage with the following prompts: Trains, Yellow, and Freedom.

Wow, these are soooo cool!! I'm so impressed by people who can do collages like this, it seems so fun... Seeing how it all fits feels so satisfying for my brain. I love the Reservoir Dogs a lot, I think because it's kind of limited colors and really brings the whole thing together! But I also really like the aesthetic and composition of the AM one. I definitely see what you mean about it looking "gross", it's this kind of grungy feeling that really fits the character? I feel like I could look at these for hours... *_*

It is really fun, and super relaxing. I love collecting all the bits for collages, or sifting through my big boxes of magazines looking for stuff as I go.

I'm glad you like the AM one's grossness too ^^ The first thing I found was that old "3. Electronic Computer" image, and I knew I had to do it :3

These are really cool! I love the color palette you picked for Deanna, and the comic book vibe for Luke and Vader.

I'm so impressed at how you've encapsulated how collage is an artform! The color palettes are really exquisite, my favorite is Deanna's <3

But I love the tone and atmosphere of I Have No Mouth and the last one, I feel like I've seen a snapshot of their differing worlds.

And the comic panel style of Vader and Luke is impeccable.
